ABOUT US

INPATH-TES is evolving. While its origins lie in a European-funded project, the network is now entering a new, open phase.

Origins of INPATH-TES

INPATH-TES was originally developed within the framework of a European project funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 programme (Grant Agreement No. 657466), running from 2015 to 2018.

The project aimed at creating a collaborative network of universities, research centres, and industry partners to support the development of a joint PhD programme in thermal energy storage.

From project to network

As a result of this initiative, the INPATH-TES network was established in 2018 and coordinated by the University of Lleida (Spain).

Its main objective was to foster cooperation between academia and industry, with a strong focus on developing high-quality learning materials and training activities in the field of TES.

Through this effort, the network contributed to the education and training of highly skilled specialists, capable of addressing the needs of both research institutions and industrial stakeholders.

A new phase

Following its creation in 2018, the INPATH-TES network has been active for several years under a structured framework based on formal membership and joint activities.

This initial phase of the network concluded in April 2026, marking the transition towards a new, more open stage. Rather than discontinuing its activities, INPATH-TES is evolving to better adapt to the current needs of the TES community.

As part of this transition, the previous structure of the network has been simplified. This includes the removal of:

  • The formal membership agreement
  • The annual membership fee
  • The structured training programme and online lessons

This transition marks a shift towards a more open, accessible, and flexible network.

INPATH-TES today

INPATH-TES is now an international network aimed at connecting institutions working in TES and related fields.

The network is now:

  • Open to any institution working in TES or related fields
  • Free of charge, with no membership fees
  • Focused on collaboration, exchange, and visibility

Membership is granted at the institutional or research group level, rather than to individual participants.

Looking ahead

INPATH-TES seeks to continue supporting the TES community by facilitating connections between institutions and promoting new opportunities for collaboration.

The network aims to grow beyond its original composition and welcome new members from across academia, research, and industry worldwide.
