Types and role of energy storage and thermal energy storage – 2 ECTS

Detail: This lesson introduces the student to the nature and forms of energy and how this influences the different types of energy storage.

The role of energy storage in general, and of the thermal energy storage (TES) in particular, in the different parts of the energy system is also addressed. The second part of this lesson focuses on the basic working principle and applications of TES. The different criteria for TES evaluation are explained in detail, and market considerations and maturity level of TES are also addressed.
